Check Engine Light 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|
|
|
I've got a check engine light on, when I just turn the key to on position the "check engine" light flashes 6 times, the dealer says it has something to do with my "decompression solonoid" I've never heard of this was wondering if someone could help me out?

check wires to decompression solenoid, lower right side(while sitting on bike), might have a broken wire..
or the solenoid is broke..
does it start ok or seem to strain.
if it starts easy, you can disconnect battery and let it reset and see if the light stops blinking.

It does start ok, I just replaced the battery and now I'm getting the flash code. I don't see which wire you're talking about, are they the wires going under the front to the tank to a small connector plug? I disconnected the battery but the light still flashes.
Thanks, Sonny

BTT
the harness goes down the right side, opposite the kickstand. under the bike to solenoid.
someplace on the site here is a link to the manual. to give better directions...
guessing that you just changed the battery, I wonder if one of the wiring connections behind the side covers came loose..
in front of battery the side covers house the fuse box and most of the connections check there.
anyone else on here have any suggestions for the solenoid connection.

It seems to work best if you leave the battery disconnected over night.
Behind the left side cover are bundles of wires. The decomp wires are (I believe) brown. Also take the cover off the decomp solenoid (Circled in red)and look in there.
