Check engine light - no blink pattern 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hello,

The other day, the check engine light on my 06 Roadie came on at work when I turned on the ignition. Bike fires up ok, light stays on dim and flickers, but goes out completely when the RPMs come up. I let the dealer change the oil when he did the tire/inspection a few days ago, so I suspected oil leak and low level. Got the bike home, oil is slightly over the cross-hatches. I drained out some oil, and rode it for 2-1/2 day light-free. Today at work, it comes on again, goes away when the RPMs come up.

I checked the "self diag" code in the manual, seems to say that everything blinks to indicate the system in trouble. (Don't know if they added something in the 04-06 version? )I also checked the battery with a VOM - 12.something volts off, 13.something running...engine light still on.

Thanks for your input...

-=Mike

Mine did something like that a while back. Check the plugs under the tank that connect the dash. I unpluged and sprayed cleaner on mine and haven't had a problem yet and that's bee alleast 6 months.

Thank you...I'll give this a whirl as soon as I can muster the courage to pull the tank off. My old Kaw was an elastic strap (OEM - not bungie) and the fuel hose...this one looks more complicated.

It's not too bad, you need to remove the 3 bolts that hold the dash on then set it on the handlebars, no need to disconnect the wiring. then remove the seat and then the bolt that holds the tail end of the tank, remove the vent hose on the right front side of the tank and the fuel line at the petcock, pull the tank back and then up..if the tank is full, be careful as it will weigh a good bit..

Thanks for the help Curt & Greysnake. I think it was the TPS connector. Gas tank came off easier than I thought - thanks in part to Flashback's once-over.
