Turn signal unit 2 Months, 1 Week ago
This morning my Road Star 1700 has failed its dept of transport test(M.O.T test for UK).The reason being that the right hand side turn signal lights flash too fast. They said it could be a bad earth.
Could some one please tell me where the flasher unit is on a Road Star?
Also, the front turn signal lights stay on with head light(marker lights).I've been told that this should have been disconnected when it was imported in to the UK.....How do I unplug these lights so that they just flash as turn signal lights?
Any advice will be helpful.Thank you in advance

You would have to look at the wiring diagram and make sure they are wired correctly.

As to the "fast flash" make sure someone didn't use LED bulds in either (or both) of the right flashers. That will make them blink fast.

The flasher unit is under the right side cover.

Thank you. How do I disable the marker lights so that they just work as turn signals?

Thats what I'm saying. There are many ways they could have been wired to accomplish that so you will actually have to compare what you have against the wiring diagram.
Theres no way we can tell how someone else modified your wiring.

Either PM me your email address and I'll email you the service manual OR search here for service manual. User called Tykes_Place (not sure if I got spelling correct) had a download link (thats where I got my copy)
