After removing the front turn signals on my '00 road star the main 30A fuse keeps blowing when the key is turned. I accidentally broke one of the bulbs when removing it and there is only one in place currently. Could this be the problem?

Definetly the broken bulb is most likely shorted to ground and since the front marker lights come on with key it blows fuse! get the broken bulb out and you will fix you fuse problem.

The running lights are on the headlight fuse and the turn signals are on the signal systems fuse. If you caused a shortt at the front where the signals are mounted it would blow one or the other small fuse. When the main fuse is blowing you have done something serious!

If you replace the main fuse, remove it and it is blown without having turned on the key then you have a major short in the charging system or the main wire going to the key! If you put in the main fuse, remove it and it is OK but it blows after you turn on the key, there are three wires coming out of the key switch; the problem is with one of those three wires. A brown/blue wire goes to the other fuses, a blue/yellow wire goes to the sidestand switch the clutch switch and a relay unit, a blue/black wire goes to the igniter unit; a short anywhere in there would blow the main fuse after turning on the switch.

Thanks guys. The main fuse did not blow without the key turned to 'on'.

I took apart the passing lamps and found a broken 'blue' wire on the right hand side. There is not enough wire to couple it back together, so I am still stumped. I'm hoping that this is my problem? I really don't want to have to take it in to the shop... gulp. Thanks again for your help!
