Marty... this is just a thought for ya... why dont you run it straight from the battery and use a standard 12v bosch relay and have it power up using a switched lead from the ignition... this will give you the most power for the system and not have to worry about engine noise... It will also put it on its own power source instead of "stealing" from another power source... I have found that by running any accessories through a relay in this fashion reduces chances of malfunctions... If you want step by step, I can provide that for you as well... I hope this helps....
