plenty are using a auto gps. Some take it off when raining, some will put it in a plastic sandwich bag to err on the side of caution.

Lots of choices to pick from JYD. I'm using a Garmin StreetPilot 2720 refurb I got at a steal off Ebay.

Re:auto gps on a bike 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I am running a Garmin 260W on my R*. I found a billet mount on ebay that is clamped to the bars between my risers dead center. It has a post with a 17mm brass ball on the end that the garmin cradel pops onto. It's a slick little mount and is all polished and looks good. I ran the power cord down the backbone under my tank and made a cigarette lighter adaptor that connects to my Battery Tender pigtail under the seat to plug into. I was a little concerned at first about the unit popping off the mount but it doesn't move a bit even on the rough roads. Running a GPS when wandering aroud the back roads has been great. I agree, the bike specific GPS was way too expensive for me and I already had the Garmin. I will try and post photos sometime this weekend.

Garmin Street Pilot here, on the rare occasion that I use it, on a handlebar RAM mount.

(Got the motorcycle wiring harness for it on Amazon.com, that has an in-line fuse)

I must be the last of a dying breed , I kinda like getting lost on my bike. No disrespect meant , all my buddies are running GPS units on their rides as well. BB

I'm with you, I like to get lost too. Then I use my GPS to find my way home. Otherwise I'd still be wandering around somewhere in the backroads of Kentucky...
