Most of the time, the GPS stays in the Jeep on a beanbag mount. I don't mind getting lost on the bike, and I do it quite often, but sometimes, I've got to be somewhere at a certain time, or I'm trying to make the best time on unfamiliar highways, and in cases like that, the GPS is mighty handy.

The GPS saved my bacon when I was in Newport Beach a couple of months ago. Since moving from SoCal years ago, I'd forgotten how congested that place is!

Something to add , as a word to the wise. A buddy was running his GPS and it was on some sort of locking device designed to hold it on there. Well , we came out of a restaurant , only to find his Shadow had been knocked over. It was in a group of six bikes. The only logical conclusion we could draw was that someone tried to snatch the GPS and due to it being locked , ended up tipping the bike over. We were in the middle of nowhere in Southern Colorado , so it seemed safe to leave it on the bike... BB

Yeah, I never leave anything on my bike that might lead to someone playing the "finders keepers" card. A shame, but the way it is!

I have a Garmin 60CS with a bike mount, works like a charm and water proof to JS7 standards I think? Anyways waterproof enough to be submerged a length of time and still work. Not going to happen on the bike.
It was installed as below because I had stock riser, new riser allows it to be just left of center.

Here it is as mounted now.

I've left mine on for the most part of 25K miles, I hook my helmet on it to cover it while away because of what BigBear says, If they see it, it's tempting. Mine's not locked. Comes off quick and easy. But never comes out of this bike mount. They make a newer version of this called a garmin 60CSX and I highly suggest it for a Bike. Not too big, not too small, waterproof. Buy extra stuff and it goes into or onto anything I used mine on Mountain bike, Car, Boat, and Road*.

It's called the bike mount 1" look at amazon for best price 12.00 or less This mount has two contact points a nub on the back that slides in a slot and a clip on the bottom rock solid.

What size are my bars? (Stock) I think it will still fit Doc, You just change the size of the rubber gaskets that come with it, you remove some. I think mine came with three sizes, I used a Section of bike tube once and then some rescue tape 2nd time.

Nothing a dremel or longer bolt won't cure. I made HD grips work in the stock housing you can surley cheat an 1/8 of an inch.
