old english trick....

get a bit of rubber fuel line about 4-5" long that fits over the porcelain part of the plug, and start the plug by just turning the rubber tube.

if the plug starts in the thread badly the rubber will slip before any damage happens to the thread. it also makes starting plugs in a difficult area a lot easier.

lube for plug threads? - i use coppaslip (antisieze with copper) which does the job.
