MotoBatt? 2 Years, 3 Months ago
It's about time to replace the OEM battery, so natuarally I start researching what's out there. I've look at the 310CCA rated batteries and think I moght go there for the extra kick in the starter. I also ran across this... MotoBatt... It has 2 set of terminals which I think is a good idea for separating the main leads from all the accessrory leads.

http://www.amazon.com/MotoBatt-YTX20LBS-Replacement-Battery/dp/B0023SRS1Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1256841550&sr=1-1

Any opinions/experience on this battery from anyone here?

I have the one for the R* that is 320CCA from them and am very pleased with it. I even left the key on and ran it all the way dead by mistake and it charged back up and performs just great. The bike starts as soon as I hit the button don't think it even make one revolution.

I bought a 310 cca battery last year and I love it. Starts faster than with the stock one.

Impressive.
Do you remember where you got it from? I haven't seen a 320CCA version from MotoBatt.

In the picture of the battery at Amazon I don't see any "L" terminals. Do you have to buy them or are they supplied?
I need a new battery as well and this seems like a likely candidate.

I just flatted my terminal out flat and trimed them to fit and it works just fine. They will still fit on an OEM battery too.

Hmmm... I called MotoBatt and they said this model was a 280CCA battery (not 320CCA).

Well... I looked at many different batteries... MotoBatt, Odyssey, Deka/EastPenn, Yuasa, and the list goes on.

I ended up going with a brand I have had good luck with for many years in my cars, trucks, & boats... Interstate. I got the CycleTronII AGM battery 310CCA 18AH AGM battery (CYTX20HL-BS). I'm sure the MotoBatt is great, but I did not like the fact that there are no dealers in my area and I didn't get the warm & fuzzies when I talked to them. I really liked the idea of having 2 sets of terminals, but I decided that wasn't that important. I've used Interstate batteries for most of my adult life and they've always been worth the cost. Again... I am not saying anything bad about MotoBatt -- Just that I preferred to buy at a local dealer and a brand that is available at most car & bike shops around my town.

In my case, the Interstate was even less expensive than the el-cheap-os from AutoZone, OReilly, & Advanced Auto parts -- $83.95 for a . Actually, the parts houses wanted upwards of $100 for a store brand 270CCA battery. What's up with that??

Anyway... I'm sure the MotoBatts (and others) are truly great. I'll post beack here after a while to provide an update with my results.

I heading out next week to ride the 3-sisters route in the TX hill country, so it's gonna get a good road test real quick!

Interstate has been quality stuff. Ha! When I enter my zip cone (Ohio) up ops a statement that heat kills more battery's than cold. Thought you Az. guys would like that. 32K miles, same stock battery.
