I went with a "hard wire" power lead on my bike for the Magellan RoadMate. You can find them on eBAY for just about any brand/model.

This eliminates the need to plug it in to a CLA and have all that extra wire looped around and it's one less loose item to deal with on those long trips.

I have a Mio that has a suction cup mount that I stick to the windshied.
It does't much like the vibrations that the bike puts off. So just use it to find my way home.
