Just wanted to share this bit of wisdom.
Do not remove your fuel tank forever and cut off your ignition switch forever and then take on wiring in a keyless ignition at the same time you are wiring in a digital speedo/tach/turn signal/neutral light set up. OK? I'm serious here, don't do it unless you are a hard headed idiot like me.
Pictures when it's done and not until!!!!

Sounds like fun!
I use sticky labels and a note pad, lots of sticky labels and notepads.
To take your mind off of the wiring fiasco you have there:
What are you doing with your seat release cable?

Hang in there buddy. It will all be worth it when your done.
And like SurveyWaters said, diagrams and wire makers are your friend when doing a big project like this.
So long as it doesnt't look this.

Pictures pictures pictures...I just did a set of rear drum brakes today on my dad's suburban. Talk about a freaking spring loaded puzzle to get back together. Good Luck!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It gets even better, the speedo is from Germany so the English directions are somewhat inventive.
Took and taking pictures. Marked wires but the best thing I did was I printed off our wiring diagram at 24"x36" and put it up on the wall. Making life much better. I also found a nice description with great wiring info and pictures on how to install a Dakota digital on a Roadstar (I'm not doing a Dakota but the pictures of the wiring are great).
So far as the seat release, I posted an ad looking for a choke cable and knob. going to modify it and put it on the left bolted to one side of the rear stock tank mount, on the other side of the same mount I am mounting the actual choke.
good news is I have plenty of wire if I need to choke myself for getting in to this!!!
