Does anyone know how to test my ignition mod. I have tested the boots, coils, pickup coil, and diods. Bike sputters and spits out the intake. And runs like it has fouled plugs. Don't know how to test the ignition though. Please help!!!

Where do you live? Maybe there is someone that could come over and actually help you with this issue... I am with Doc on this... from the way your bike sounds, you have SVS... I have a friends bike in the garage right now that I am fixing this for him... and it sounds just like yours... I know you are in a little panic here... but give us a chance to help ya...

I live in Belmont, N.C. Charlotte is a mile away. Any help would be great. Have treated the bike sevral times with the seafoam. It wont rev to 1500 rpm's like doc says to do. Now it did hit on both cyl, for about 4 seconds one time. But still sounds like it did before. Plugs are very new and are already black. Front cyl is the one missing. How do you test the coil when its running? ohm readings are right when bike is off.

Do you happen to have a Yamaha speedstar ignition, I know we had a few of those goin around back in the day that were bad. Basically it would get warm and lose alot of its functions.

Don't think so. Just got the bike a month ago. It wasn't hot either, It was pretty cold, and had just been started.

This started AFTER you swapped out your plugs??? Hmm sounds real familiar. . .Did you set the gap on your plugs?? I had somewhat the same thing. . .I put in the NGK Iridium's. . .mine would spit and sputter in 4th and 5th. . .but I didn't gap. .I checked them and gapped to .033 and it's better but it was suggested to go to .035, which I'll do this afternoon. Could be your gap is too cold. . .

Good Luck!!
