Check the carb, especially if it has been sitting. Stale gas will gum things up!
My own bike gets ridden almost every day, so it doesn't have stale gas problems. It did; however, have a situation where it quit on the main and wiuld go on the reserve. I found that with full choke it would start and idle; but if you touched the choke to push it off it would quit or if you touched the throttle to give it power it would quit. The problem turned out to be a clogged low speed jet! Cleaned it up and she hasn't skipped a beat since.

Subject: starter problems
Papa Bear: with a new battery installed, i get all lights and electronics functioning when I push the starter button, but only a click. No starter rotation at all. Prognosis please? Papa Bear
