Wow I just got an e-mail saying my speedo face will be going out tomorrow. Now that's some fast shipping!

Don't pay any attention to the tracking though.
I checked the tracking number at 10 this morning and it said the post office had received it and it was being processed. 2 hours later I got it in my mail box.

That's the good news.
The rest of the good news is it's a rainy day here, I only have one short ride to the store and then I have the rest of the day and tonight to put it on

Sweet, make sure you let us know how the install went. I read the directions a couple times already and went to the store this morning and got a new tube of super glue. I guess you have to glue the new stops in. For some reason I wasn't expecting that.

Re:Black face speedometer 2 Years ago
It will be a pain in the butt like everything else I do to this bike
Just kidding, I took it apart once already and tried pulling the needles off with my fingers.
That wasn't happening so I figured I'd try that pry tool, mine is to big.
So off to the hardware store I went and picked up what's called a Tack Lifter.
It looks thin enough to get under the needle and narrow enough to get to the gas needle.
It also has a rubber sleeve on the shaft so when you pry you pry up straight.I'll take pictures of the install and put them in my photo gallery on my web site.
That's a project for a little later today though.

That looks real good. On a scale of 1-10, how hard was it?

Re:Black face speedometer 2 Years ago
I'd say a 3.
That's mainly because it took me 2 tries to get the speedo needle right and three tries on the gas needle.
The tack lifter made the needles easy to get off. I tried pulling them off at first, but they where on tight.
The only thing I would caution with that lifter is the black rubber around the shaft that you use for leverage may leave a mark on a face that's not black.

Aw yeah, I can't wait to get mine! That looks great Thom! It's the little things like that that make me smile! Did you have to super glue the new stops in?

Re:Black face speedometer 2 Years ago
No they are a hard rubber and fit extremely tight.
They are a little longer then needed and tapered.
I still had about a 1/4 inch under the face when they started getting tight, I pushed them almost flush.
Then I measured the old ones against a match book and used a razor blade to cut them.
So far this has been the easiest mod. I've done, no I take that back.
Putting on my new potato chip seat was a little easier, but not by much.

It is the little things I enjoy myself.
Now I have to figure out what to do with the 2 key blanks I just picked up
