Might sound dumb, but have you checked any Pawn shops? I buy Mowers and stuff from them, usually find good deals. Ton's of tools too!

Again, great feedback....thanks! CPO retired, thanks for the link to the previous posts. I looked at information on the Garmin 550 GPS and Garmin nuvi 500, both are supposed to be waterproof and are in the mid-price range (http://www.the-portable-gps.com/best-
motorcycle-gps.html
). Anybody have experience with either of these units?

If you mean the Garmin Zumo 550 that's what I have.

No, Garmin also manufactures two other models which they claim are waterproof (Garmin 550 GPS and Garmin nuvi 500). The Garmin Zumo 550 looks like a great product, just not sure if I want to pull the trigger and spend that much money.

I had a Magellan maestro 3500 series but have gone with a garmin 60 csx with bike mount. The screen is visible without a shade. It is waterproof and can be used on water hikes and a ton of features. This is a secure mount and a solid unit especially in high sun conditions. Low profile.

Anybody know if the mount that comes with the Garmin Zumo 660 will work with 1 1/2" diameter handlebars? If not does anyone make a mount that will?

Garmin does make the nuvi 550 and the Zumo 550 the difference is that the Zumo is made specifically for motorcycle use and is "glove friendly".
I went to http://www.the-portable-gps.com/best-motorcycle-gps.html to check it out. They have a good comparison chart on motorcycle GPS systems. I also like the World Nav unit they have listed.

Garmin nuvi 1300 on both of my bikes...affordable, 2 X 4 Screen. Its not waterproof, and can be hard to read in glare. I throw a plastic bag over it and tie off the bag if its going to rain, or just remove it and put it in my saddlebags.
