I'm stuck 1 Year, 10 Months ago
Did a search, and tried everything I found to no avail.

The problem I'm having is with the instrumentation on a 2001 RS. I have lost all speedometer, gas gauge, and digital odometer operation. The digital clock still works, all lighting and light indicators work, and the intial gauge sweep (start-up sweep) still functions.

No fuses blown, all wiring appears intact.

There has been a history of erratic speedo operation in the past - a few hundred feet of no response, then proper operation w/o rhyme or reason. I originally pawned this off due to regular tank removal for detailing, figuring it was a connection issue. Now, it has given up the ghost.

Any suggestions as to where to look or specfic readings to get at the various locations?

Do you know anybody with another roadie so you could pull off his instrument cluster and try it on your bike and see if that works....just to figure out if its the cluster itself or something on the bike?

Are all the connections tight?? You can take off the 3 allen screws holding the "dash board" on the tank and check those 2 connections. . .also the little green connection at the base of the tank. . .you'll have to take the seat off to check that one as well. . .there should be enough play that you won't have to take the tank off. . .

When mine went, at the time my local dealer had a used one for me to use for a couple days, but the ghost still followed. Turned out to be a bad speed sensor, fortunately was under the YES warranty
