Dan:

A lot of guys have tried variations of removal. But, seems most just end up pulling it all off in the end.

Works 100% of the time if you do it that way.

Welcome.

It won't affect the running of your scoot. Your '09 doesn't have an intake nipple to plug. The AIS just adds a bit of air to "clean up" the emissions in the exhaust.

Dan:

If it's just unplugged, some say that it still pops a little bit w/ new pipes. Also, there might be an issue with condensation getting in there.

Bike will run fine without it. It's just an emisions gadget.
