ten bucks Yeah, I tried that. Too isolated from the noise around me for my liking.

You can do two layers, but only expect it to clean up the sound. The bass will always be limited. It's a function of open air speakers. Bass is air vibration and is non-directional. Since you don't have a cabin like a car, your air space is the world. For that reason, I wouldn't get my hopes up about the bass, unless you start adding subs and stuff, but even then, it will be minimal. Too much air to move.

jonathan, this is the reciever in the fairing now, let me know what you think. s/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&partNumber=CDXM60UI#accessoThat's not a link.

Also, I'd need to know what you primarily listen to. The signal to noise is way different from radio to discs.

The Signal to Noise on that unit is 120dB, which, honestly, is beyond incredibly good. Rivaling many higher end head units. In fact, it may be a little too good. I don't know Sony's fudge factor when they publish stuff like that, but you should get your best sound out of that if you use CD's.

I've never been a fan of Sony gear. Mostly because of a horrendous experience back in the 90's with their customer service and a CD changer. But that certainly looks more than adequate to drive 4 speakers, that's for sure.
