Amplifier and Speakers 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I have been working on a project for a couple of weeks, and I started reading other posts on the forum that has made me nervous.

I've basically made my own stereo set up. I've purchased 4" speakers, an 20w amplifier, and chrome spotlight housings I am using for the speaker enclosures.

I have the speakers in the speaker enclosures. I am wondering how to wire the amp without destroying something.

The amp I purchased came with a 115v wall plug in, but is rated for 12v with a 2A draw. It has an on/off switch. I bought the power cable that now has a positive and negative side.

Is there a place I can tap into for power? I saw some open female bullet connectors under the seat, but wasn't sure if I could use those or not.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't know of any auto amp that has to be connected to AC. For all I know, it might need the AC for an internal power supply that converts the AC to DC to run the amps electronics.

got any specs on it? A brand name and model number?

It is a Lepai Tripath TA2020. It is a 12v DC amp. It came with a 115v power supply that converts it from AC to DC. It technically isn't an auto amp.

Says for auto use too.

Can tap into blue wire which runs the front and rear running lights. Or preferably use a relay off the same wire, this puts very little load on an existing ckt, and puts the amp on it's own, pwr will come on when key is on.

Are your speakers outdoor rated? One good rain and they could be toast.

I'm not worried about rain. If I know it is going to rain, I don't ride.
