What would happen without using the 14ga wire and fuse? I can definately go buy some wire but how do you put a fuse in the line?

In order to get full current thru a wire, the proper gauge needs to be used. I think they say 16ga as well, but 14 would be a better choice for hot and ground wires. welcome to the wonderful world of electronics.

Use the heavier gauge wire. It draws lots to initiate the compressor. The thicker wire will decrease the heat too. And yes, put an inline fuse in before the relay on the power source. So, you run a heavy guage wire from the positive feed on the batter and place the fuse on this run before the relay switch. Keep the heavy guage wire from the relay to the horn. I initially had the negative run back to the batter but was having some issues with it not grounding properly (go figure). Last night i moved the ground to a bolt on the ignition area so it is grounded to the frame. Should be just fine now...

hope that helps...

I used 10 or 12g... just can't remember..but i think the latter.

Anyone having issues with their Wolo Bad Boy yet? Just picked up a 519 model (chrome) and don't want to resort to a hammer like scottw.

i put mine in a few months ago. i mounted it in the passenger floor board hole on the left side of the bike. it hangs below the left passenger floor boards facing down. i used 14 guage wire and the relay. the relay is mounted where the stock horn used to be and connects to the original wiring. so far so good. nice sounding, loud horn

By having the compressor under the seat, does the extended length of the air hose to the horns present any problems?

Mounted our Black Wolo horn on a S bracket that we welded up, located on the front left side engine block bolt, we removed the stock horn mount bracket as it was in the way ((( what else is new.... never can have too many extra parts LOL )))) ran 16 guage wire up the front downtube and along the back bone frame, then solder on a 30 amp fuse and hooked it direct to the battery, a very clean set-up, also sealed up all electrical connections with shrink tube, now were looking for a cool look'in MEDALLION to cover the top of the compressor!
