I am putting the 4 ga wire to upgrade the starting on my 1700. The yamaha steeler quoted me $79.95 for the warrior starter relay. This seems a little steep. Is that in the ballpark?

Out of curiosity and because I like to learn, what exactly are the benefits to this? I have heard that the electrical on the pre '05 *'s are not as good, is this something to do with that?

I was just checking mine out for the letters M&B as far as I know M goes to motor presuming (starter) and B is for battery. All I know about it is its supposed to be a better or more current provider to the starter than the original. Does anyone know for sure?? Got me! there can't be too much to attaching it???

I put a warrior relay and am now looking for a good battery. I put a thread on a couple days ago request advice on a good strong battery with lots cca. then I got to think that maybe a 330cca battery might be too "hot" for the relay. thoughts?

Do not doubt the wisdom of upgrading to the Warrior Starter Relay.

I installed mine 30 minutes ago. Tightened everything down. Turned on the key. Whamo! That bike started like it has never started before! I barely touched the starter button, and it was firing!

When my Thunderfire Starter gets here (hopefully in the next day or so), I'll be able to wave a fly swatter at the starter button and it will fire up!

Absolutely awesome result. Thanks again to the Forum! Yet another testament to the knowledge and help that is found here and freely given!

NOTE: There's a reason why they tell you to disconnect the ground to the battery before you begin working on electrical.

Just installed the Thunderfire last week. Turns over amazingly fast now. Did the cables & relay as well. Well worth the money for peace of mind.

The Flamewire cables were the first step for me -- along with a battery that was respectable.

Put my warrior starter relay in yesterday, works like a charm. The problem I had was I dropped a relay bolt down a crack in the floor and couldn't get it. Off to Napa bought 5 , they had to be cut to length that done then trying to cross the 4ga. fire wire was a pain but the bike sat since last Nov but started after 2nd spin (gas had to get to carb) and away she went. Thanks to all who contributed to .This is the $23. one from ebay hope it lasts!.... Jack
