No electrical power 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Hello everyone, I need a little help please. I was at work today and went to start my 2005 RS and it went to start but never made 1 revolution with the motor like the compression relief didn't engage and then lost power to everything. No lights gauges would not cycle nothing. I did not hod the starter button i released it as soon as the engine stopped its spin.
I did check all the fuses and even swapped them out for spares. I looked at the 2 30amp fuses and they look good and swapped the with each other, but no luck. The gauges did try and cycle a little but never did make a full cycle. Still no power. The battery cables look to good and tight and the battery is fairly new about 8 months old. I don't believe it is a battery problem because I never had any problem starting it before.

I know some of you will have the answer or at least point me in the right direction.

Please Help

Thanks
Mark

even new batteries go bad. I'd have the battery load tested first, then once that is confirmed go from there. Would check charge system once ya get bike running too. Maybe charge system took a dive?

I have a battery tester at work, I will check that tomorrow. The bike is still at work. had to get a ride home. But it seems as though there would be some sort of headlight or something if the battery was weak. But there is no power at all. I have been wrong once before though.
Thanks for your help.

I agree with getting the battery tested. Sometimes when they go they can take a dump without any indications of going bad. Get the voltage reading (12.6 - 12.8) and then a load test. If it's OK then I would check all battery cable connections.

Had the same problem. Turned out to be the battery and very corroded cables.

Thanks everyone for the help. It turned out to be the battery, You were correct!!! Again
I did a battery test and it read low and when I pushed the switch it went staright to bad. So took the battery out tried to charge it and it wwould not take a charge at all. I then took the charger and hooked it to the + & - cables and turned on key and the speedo cycled and light came on. I had to order the Interstate Battey. It should be here Wed. I also got the 310CCA battery at my cost of $85.00 through the Tire place I manage.

Again Thanks to all of you who replied !
