Re:LED accent lighting 1 Year ago
My Lizard Lights arrived today from the US. I will probably install them over the weekend.

Once installed, I'll upload a video. I may also indicate where on the bike that I placed them, since I haven't been able to find a good specific source online for that information.

Re:LED accent lighting 1 Year ago
When I was at Laconia last year I was going to have the Chameleon lights put on my bike. While talking to the installer I explained that I wanted to light my engine only and he said the motor is too big to get a good effect. He said I would not be happy with the results and sent me on my way. Does anyone have pics of their lighting? I have an '01 with fuel pump and stock breather. Thanks.

Re:LED accent lighting 1 Year ago
Began the installation of the Kuryakyn Super Lizard Lights today. Gotta say that I'm not thrilled so far with the Maximus kit, but I haven't tested them in the dark yet.

They do what they say they will do: rotate through the seven colors, strobe fast or slow with a control for speed, maintain one color, and fade from color to color. A couple of the wire connectors had loose wires that created shorts, but I was able to repair them both.

Placing the switch took awhile. Finding a good location on the left side was the holdup. Finally found a great spot front left just under the lip of the seat. From there I strung 4 lights on either side.

2 each under the tank, 2 each side on the front/bottom of the frame near the horn and starter facing the engine, and two each side on the steering column facing the engine.

Putting them in a temporary spot isn't the easiest thing because the paper stip on the back of the adhesive strip of each group of lights won't allow anything to adhere to it. Ended up using duct tape on the wires to hold them in place temorarily to get the look.

I may end up supplementing it with another brand's 12" or 18" strip on each side on the bottom of the frame and facing down on the street. There just doesn't seem to be enough light with 8 LED strips that are 6" long each.

After it gets dark in the next hour or so, I'll let you know if my perception has changed.

Re:LED accent lighting 1 Year ago
Well, when dusk arrived, I began to reposition. After looking at the bike in almost darkness, I came to the conclusion that the 8 strings of lights would all have to be focused on the engine in order to get the maximum effect.

On the right side, there is one over the right side panel facing inward toward the rear jug. The next one is over the air cleaner. The next one is centered on the frame in the front of the bike and facing inward toward the front jug. The last one on the right is on the frame even with the starter and facing inward.

On the left side, there is one over the rear jug, one over the front jug, one on the upper portion of the frame facing inward and one even with the horn facing inward.

Overall, after repositioning and seeing it in darkness, I give it a B to B+. With a 12" or 18" string on the undercarriage facing downward to the street, it would probably creep up to an A- or A.

I'm still not thrilled, but I feel better about them than before.
