Help! Stalls when i put her in Gear 1 Year ago
|
|
took a rainy afternoon and decided I was finly going to run the wires through the handle bars and install the braided cables that have been sitting around since last winter. Took the time to cut, connect and shrinkwrap all the wires and run the extensions into the headlight bucket. I get it all back together and now she stalls when i put her in gear....I assume theres a short somewhere....is there a chance its anything else?

Is your kick stand and all the way up?? Could be a coincidence. Sometimes mine gets dirty And doesn't go up the last fraction of an inch.

Sounds like possibly the safety switch at the clutch lever might be wired wrong...
If the bike sees it go into gear, and can't tell that the clutch lever is actually pulled, it'll stall right away.
Or, like they said. Kickstand switch.
It's certianly one of the two...

+2 it has some thing to do with it or wiring for it.
By the way Geno, I have my mini apes on now. They took about an hour and the only reason they took so long was I but grip on the clutch side on backwards and my switch and cluth lever reversed I also had to lean them back more then I like becouse of my wind shield. They look great and feal better leaning forward a littel.

It'll start in-gear with the kickstand up and clutch lever pulled.
But, if you start it in Neutral and put it in-gear, it stalls?
Hmmmm...

Thanks for all the help guys! What would I do with you all?
The problem was there was some grease and grime in the kickstand. I cleaned it all out and resprayed her with WD40 and the problem was solved!
It was a mere coinkydink that it happened when i decided to do the wiring through the bars.
Thanks again for your infinate knowledge!
