Question about lights in trunk/saddlebags 10 Months ago
|
|
Hey guys, I am installing my trunk and I have a brake light built in to the spoiler. How did you run the wires and where? Pics would be awesome. I know there's a few guys who can help me out (Kai and Smokescreens are a few)
It's just a running and brake light, 3 wires that I'm aware of. I want to run at least one additional wire to power a 12v plug and/or USB charger. I was looking at using a 4-prong trailer harness but I'm curious what others have done.
Can't wait to see what the guru's have done

+1. It may be overkill for a single brake light, but it can handle running, brake, and turns drawing power dirctly from the battery (not your light system). I put in a harness to connect to the existing rear fender wiring harness. If I want to remove it later I can simply unplug my harness and return it to stock.

Warden, what kind of harness did you use and where did you splice it in?

Click my link, it will take you right to it. Make your connections under the seat where the wire harness for the rear taillights come through the fender.

I tapped into the running light circuit under the seat, at the front of the fender, and installed running lights in my saddle bags where the reflectors were. Wiring is in a black flexible conduit, inside of the "eyebrows". Will be doing something more permanent later when I build my back bumper.
