I'm no spark head

, but I was thinking of this same thing last week when I attempted to relocate it. I believe it builds up to a certain pressure and cuts itself off, probably some kind of pressure regulator built into the pump itself, Just my guess.......The problem I had with mine tough was when I left the fuel line disconnected from the carb and turned the key on to see it was purging out,(I thought it would keep pumping fuel) I found then I may be wrong, becouse it would run a few seconds and then shut off.

So after thinking about it I guess my conclusion would be......IDUNO
