Stator and Rectifier upgrade help 3 Years, 11 Months ago
I am going to be putting on passsing light bar on my 03 R* and want to upgrade the Stator and rectifier. I'm looking at putting in Yamaha parts, but I'm a little confused with the part numbers between the 05 (5VN 81410-00-00) and the 06 (5VN 81410-01-00)on the stator. Is there a difference with the output between the two? Does it matter which one to purchase? (Do either fit) and if I buy the 06 ststor, do I need to stick with the 06 rectifier? THANK YOU for all your help.

Yamaha has a habit of changing part numbers for different even though the parts are identical.

The 1600 stators are all the same but are different that those on the 1700. I suspect there is no difference between the years for the same motor.

So, if I buy the 1700 stator, That will give me the juice I need to run without worrying about draining the batt?

No .... you also need the rectifier ... it's a higher output.

Right. So if I buy a Stator AND Rectifier for a 1700, THEN, I'm O.K.?

No. After you buy them you need to put them on your bike. THEN you'll be OK.

Depends ....

Under normal circumstances Yes ..... you will have more output than the 1600 so you'll be able to easily run those passing lamps without worrying about running out of juice.

But if you want to light up your bike like a Xmas tree, plug in heated clothes, run stereo then you're gonna run out.

O.k. So then which Stator and rectifier would supply enough juice to do that? (i'm not planning on adding all that, but you never know)

I believe, but not sure, that all the 1700 ones are the same.
