fuel light in dash flashing 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago

Has anyone had the fuel light flash? I have an 05 Midnight with 14k miles. If let idle for 3-5 min. the light will flash 8 times then go out for 3-4 seconds then flash again. If you run up to speed down the road it quits flashing????

Cougar, Will not repairing it right away cause other problems? We have a Freedom Ride Sat. and I am getting ready to go to Fl. for a week to ride the coast.

It won't hurt anything to run with it that way. You could save yourself some money by replacing it yourself.

Just for kicks and grins, is something that might correct itself by disconnecting the battery overnight, allowing time for the sensors and meters to reset? I remember some previous posts about this clearing up some issues.

New 2 the list (Hi!) I have an '04 Silverado with about 35K miles on it. I am getting a similar problem, disconnecting the battery only helped once for about 2 minutes. It flashes 8 times (annoying and distracting), the gauge doesn't work either. Does anyone know the part I need and how complicated it is to replace? The creepy part is I just installed some LEDs the other day. I'm pretty confident I didn't do anything stupid like splice into the wrong wire (all my LEDs come on with a switch only and all are working ok). It didn't start doing this till Sunday and rode it briefly Saturday day after the install with no problems. Coincidence or stupidity (on my part). WDYT? Thanks in advance for any help.

You either have a short circuit or your plug is disconnected, probably the later.
