Sounds like the front cylinder is not firing right.

First of all to do the compression check you must disable the decompression solenoid or you'll get low readings.

I would suspect something electrical ...

- plugs (switch front with back)
- wires
- coil
- ignitor

Seems like you're at the ignitor (yes, they do occasionally go bad). See if you can pick up a used 1700 ignitor (ask seller to send you the part number to verify it's not a 1600 module) or a new Dyno300.

ultrastar: Is anyone planing on going to Star Days this year? its in Reno NV this year thats only about a 5 hour ride for me the last one I went to was in CO. a 2 day ride riding 80 + and 14 hour days
