Buzzing noise after startup 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I have been noticing a buzzing sound after cold startups???
Right to the rear of the lifter/cam housing, there is a little cylinder looking thing with wires coming out of it. It is behind a little plastic cover on the right side of the engine After startup, this thing seems to emit an annoying buzz sound.
What is this little thing,... an auto-decompression doodad?
Is it normal for it to buzz, and why does it buzz?

When looking at the right side of the engine, directly left of the cam cover, behind a cover is the decompression solenoid. When you start the bike, a rod comes out of the solenoid which presses on a lever.

If this is where the sound is coming from, remove the solenoid cover (2 allen bolts). Try and start the bike and see what happens to the rod. It should retract once the bike starts.

Thats the decompression solenoid. Take the cover off and start the bike. See if you can see if the rod is going back in.

Never mind. I see i'm a little late

I am not sure that the rod goers back in all the way on the cold mornings until she warms up a bit.
(It sounds kinda like one of those crappy old Ford power steering pumps cavitating.)
I did order some warmer weather, but it appears that it's on back-order for a while yet.

I get a buzzing also but this is after I've been cruising and the engine's warm. Kinda sounds like high voltage wires. Slows/stops when I do. With this wonderful weather we have on tap this week (nothing above 55 w/ showers) I'll check the headlight for rattling and the decomp solenoid also.

Since I installed my windshield I've noticed a buzzzzz too. At least we know it's common if not normal.
I'm actually thinking it has something to do with the front calipers because it varies in pitch with the wheel speed but I haven't tried to pinpoint it yet.
