I accidentaly installed a 55 watt bulb couple years ago and just tonight took the passing lamp apart to install a new bulb and discovered nearly melted the wiring connectors in the bucket due to the excessive heat and amperage draw through those small wires!!! I am switching back to the cooler-burning 35 watt stock bulbs, they'll also draw less power, and hopefully not start my bike on fire! Never noticed it before, but the passing lamps will not come on untill the motor is running... This is the way I like them set up. I read the attachment in one of the replies and I think I am going to wire them to be on at all times (Red/Yellow). I can always turn them off with the switch and prevent the battery drain if needed.
