I have been burning passsing lamp bulbs out "left right and center" here!
I accidentaly installed a 55 watt bulb couple years ago and just tonight took the passing lamp apart to install a new bulb and discovered nearly melted the wiring connectors in the bucket due to the excessive heat and amperage draw through those small wires!!! I am switching back to the cooler-burning 35 watt stock bulbs, they'll also draw less power, and hopefully not start my bike on fire!
Never noticed it before, but the passing lamps will not come on untill the motor is running...
This is the way I like them set up. But had no idea there was options on settin' 'em up the way you like 'em to come on.

Just bought a set of these and was wandering what was the most common way people are hooking them up. I read the attachment in one of the replies and I think I am going to wire them to be on at all times (Red/Yellow). I can always turn them off with the switch and prevent the battery drain if needed. Is this correct?

look for a blue wire going into a three way connector.. 2 blues going to the front running lights...another option for hook up..if the red yellow wire isn't easily accessible....very popular hook up and they will turn off with yer lights.. when you turn yer ignition off....the red yellow wire turns off with yer ignition switch as well...it is the wire that goes to yer hi/low switch....and the blue runs back and connects to the red/yellow wire anyway....
