Speedo error? 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Just wondering if everyone else with a GPS is seeing the same amount of error on their speedo as I am. At hiway speeds my speedo is 4-5 mph fast. I think I have seen other threads that mention it.

Generally, motorcycle speedos can be off up to 10%. Mine is 3 mph off at 60 on the speedo.

I WAS off by almost 10%. I am NOW right on. I bought a speedo-healer and installed it. I now get an accurate reading for MPH and MPG and I'm not putting imaginary miles on the odometer.

The odo and speedo use the same sensor but they do different things with the info they get. Most bikes are set up so the odo is correct while the speedo reads fast. If you fix the speedo you mess up the odo. I would rather have the odo correct. I can always adjust my speed to compensate for an off speedo. My 1 cent anywho.
Disclaimer - Or I could be completely wrong. Again.

under FAQ #5, explains that the speed will be on but the odo would be slightly less miles. I can deal with that. I just don't like having to compute "65mph on speedo-I'm really doing 57mph so I need to do 73 to be going 65mph, I can go 5-7 over w/o getting pulled over so that would be...78-80". I'll take the slightly less ODO reading. I can't afford anymore tickets. I COULD just slow down. um....nah
