I have an electrical problem 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago

I took a little ride today, and stopped at a friends house. When I turned the key to the "on" position to start the bike nothing happened. I got no lights or anything.
I jiggled the kill switch, and jiggled the key as well. Something I jiggled made the lights come on and the dash lights as well. however when I pushed the start button nothing happened.
after getting the lights to come on with the "jiggles" I was able to get them on that way two more times, then nothing. I'm back to not getting any response from turning the key on.
Has anyone had this problem?
what was it, what did you do?
Any help will be appreciated.

hmmmmm trying yo figure out how your # of posts stayed at 11 after 2 different time stamped posts....anywho IMO sounds like you have a wiring short and probably blew a fuse while
jiggling the wires ....look for a bare wire or over crimped looking wire and check all the connections to make sure they are secure and clean.....you are going to have to find the short ...it may disappear for awhile after jiggling the wiring but it will be back ...Coug

Sounds like a loose or corroded connection. Get a can of tuner cleaner from RadioShack and a tube of dielectric grease. On bolted connections take them apart, clean, grease, and reassemble. On plug in connections pull apart, spray with cleaner, plug & unplug several times, grease the pins, and reassemble. If the problem is a corroded connection and you cleane it; problem solved. If the problem is a loose connection and you tighten it; problem solved.

Better pull that instrument cluster. You probably have a pinched wire or two under the cluster. The harness is kinda stuffed alongside it, and can be difficult to get into a comfortable position.
Good Luck.
