Burly Brand Beach Retro Bar question 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|
|
Hello. I would like to buy "Burly Brand Beach Retro Bar 1 inch" for my RS. Do you have any experience with this bar? I'm going to order it at my local Custom HD dealer and in his catalouge there are 2 options: beach bar for up to 1982 HD models and from 1982 HD models. Which one should I order? Any hints?
Below the picture of the bar that I want:
http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=39&Category_ID=10&manufacturer_ID=32&product_ID=19145&related=short
Is it better to take the one with dimples or without?
Best regards from Germany.
Greg

Order the ones before 1982. You do not want the dimples in the bends of the bar. The dimples are used on the new HDs so the wiring would fit under the control clamp, our wiring comes out behind the controls so we don't need the dimples.

WARNING:
These bars will not fit your risers!
They neck down from 1.25" to 1" at the controls and risers, the problem is that Harley risers are spaced at 3.5" center to center and Yamaha is spaced at 4", the neck down will be inside your riser. Yamaha risers can be machined to accomidate the bars but this is not a bolt on.

I was writing abour bars that are 1" diameter over the total length and not 1.25". I think the 1" should fit without any changes (except brake hose length).

Yes Greg, That is correct, the 1" bars will work with no problem but they are not called "Burly", this name refers to the 1.25" bars from this supplier.
