Progressive spring.... 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Debating on the 1000 Eibach or the progressive 825-1250. Whos running the progressive and hows it compare to stock other than 'better'. As my wife says , I'm ..'fluffy'.. And with both of us onboard I want the bike to set up and not jar our teeth out over little bumps in the road. My wife has a bad back and the bikes been killing her lately. I wanna go with the progressive but is the 825 bottom end enuf?

I am running the progressive with a 2" drop. ( longer dog bones) So far I love it. I am not sure what fluffy is.... my wife and I together get on togethere at right at 450# (that is 204 Kg to you out of towners) plus baggage. I will just say I am on the heavier side of the 2. We have bumped slightly at times, but nothing even close to what we did with the stock height and spring.

Re:Progressive spring.... 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Like I wrote in an earlier post, my initial impression of the Progressive spring is that it's much stiffer than stock (when riding solo), therefor making sharp bumps feel that much sharper.

I still haven't had the wife on the back yet (since swapping springs) but after a longer solo ride, I can definitely say it's improved the ride. It may be a little stiffer, but seems to be getting better. Do springs have a "break in" period??? But the bike feels more "planted" (don't ask me why or how) which seems to have improved the handling, and on good pavement, it's a much smoother ride.

When I ordered the spring there was a note stating that the Progressive spring would lower the bike by approx. half an inch. Not sure of the exact amount, but the bike definitely feels lower. And the Progressive spring is shorter than stock.

So I would highly recommend the Progressive spring, whether you're riding two-up or just looking to upgrade the suspension.

How tight did you adjust the spring when you installed it? I felt mine was softer and actually stiffened it up a bit.

I am also looking at changing out spring on my 06 since between me and the wife we are around 435#. Bike rides hard with just my fat 275# butt over bumps. Dont want a stiff ride but also do not wanna bottom out.

Currently between the Baron 930 or the progressive spring with adjustment from 850 to 1200 lbs. Both on Phats site.

Actualy I am going to go with the progressive off Phats. Where do you find the progressives for the Roadstar front forks? Or am I just not looking good enough LOL!! Have a habit of doing that .. I am sure I will be able to hit the free shipping mark from Phats. The things I do just to get free shipping have to twist my own arm for more bling for the *!!

I'm not sure of the exact amount, but I'm guessing with both the lock nut and the adjusting nut completely loose, I ran the adjusting nut in about 1/4 to 3/8th of an inch.

With the stock spring I had the adjusting nut run in about 3/4 of an inch and would still, on occassion, drag the lower pipe when riding two-up and leaning the bike to the right.

I may need to do some fine tuning on the new one, but will wait 'til after I've ridden two-up.
