Re:STOCK SEAT HURTS-HELP! 4 Months ago
I was fine with my stock seat. But after riding my friends vstar w/ a Corbin dual tour seat, I really liked how I sat "in" the bike instead of "on" the bike with the stock seat. I wouldn't dream of buying a seat without trying it out first though. Not necessarily THE one you're going to buy but at least find someone who has a Mustang/Corbin/Ultimate before you shell out the cash.

(then contact Clifford for a good price. I can't thank him enough for helping me with mine!)

Put me down as a Ultimate fan too. I've had mine for 15,000+ miles and love it. Fits me perfect and I am able to do 500-600 mile a day rides whithout being crippled up. I would suggest looking into a drivers backrest while your at it.

Maybe this is just in my head but when you guys went to an ultimate seat did it also make you feel like you had more control of the bike, like you were more firmly planted on the seat. Heck it even made me feel like I could corner better. LOL Might just be in my head though, but man that seat sure felt good yesterday lol.

After trying different things, I just plopped an Airhawk inflatable on top of the RoadStar stock seat. It raises your height some, but I find I like it better up a little higher. On my old Virago 750, I've got a Mustang wide touring seat, which I like a lot. There's probably a version for the RoadStar.
