Luggage rack 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I am trying to determine what the correct luggage rack is for my 2005 RS. I have a mustang seat and a passenger back rest. I have seen several styles but am not sure which one to get. If you have a picture of one I would appreciate seeing it. Also if anyone has a used one they want to get rid of let me know.

Thanks, Mark

Greetings and welcome! There are a ton of racks made to fit your bike. Your need to look around and see which one meets your needs. I wound up going with one from Yamaha because of the shape and size. I carry a tour master travel bag on trips and the rack I have meets my needs fine. You just have to look at a lot and see what you want.
Good luck with that.

Mark,

You didn't say if your backrest (upright) was the stock Yamaha one or another. The Yamaha part that fits their upright is part STR-5VP51-30-00, and at least according to the dealer mine is ordered from, is on back-order till the end of September. Here is the link.

The luggage rack attaches using the 4 bolts that hold the backrest upright. The seat you have should not make a difference, since Mustang only makes the pads that mount to the backrest, not the backrest upright itself.

My R* is my daily ride and I carry lots on it. This one is strong yet simple. Not the most exotic. Doesn't take up visual space when not is use.

I have the yami luggage rack and the yami tall backrest (needed to secure a t-bag or similar) and I have a mustang seat. I sold my short backrest on ebay.
