Satin finish 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
Anyone ever heard of sanding the clear coat to achieve a satin finish? I think my black cherry Road would look really good this way but scared to experiment. Would there be any down side to paint protection?

You stand a chance of going through it or at least thinning it out which will weaken it. It might be a pain to get it all even with no marks left behind. Might be better to have it re-cleared with a satin coat. My op anywho.

I think you will need to re-spray it with a satin clearcoat..sanding won't do it, you ruin the glaze and open the surface to the elements..

Yes, Like Musky and Flashback said! You could use 0000 steel wool to dull the paint, but this is done on old Rat Rod Bobbers and the like. If you want something even, a respray of Satin is in order. Just know, and this is only from my experience, that when you wax satin components, they become shiny. Don't know of a way to prevent that other than not waxing.

Thanks guys that's what I would be afraid of. Maybe a good winter project. Have to give it some more thought.

The OEM clear is too thin to do what you want ..... you'll end up going through in in spots.
