Help for stock seats 4 Years, 3 Months ago
Has anybody ever tried to re-pad or put different padding into a stock seat? I don't know maybe I'm just being cheap but I really like the look of the stock seats . It doesn't look like it would be overly difficult to remove the seat cover and just put some better padding in there. Any help would be great! Thanks.

I re-shaped mine by taking the cover off and carving the underside of the foam to shape my butt better..Worked awesome.

Check with Papbear he does a pretty "cheap" stock mod.
Several people have taken theirs apart shaved a little added a little. It's not too hard. I found an upholstry shop that add some to mine for $40 (didn't really work for me)
The cover is only stapled on so get a good construction stapler and have fun!

You might run a search also, I believe several members have posted where they had theirs done.

When I first got my Roadie I found a thread or tech article that was very detailed on redoing the stock seat. It's either a thread here (do a search) or on one of the other Roadie sites.

i took my ultimate to a local appolstry shop, and they added some jell under the foam. he had modified a bunch of seats for other riders so i thought what the heck....it helped a little, but not as much as i would have liked. i think what some earler folks said about checking with pappa bear is a good recommendation.

Good luck

Re:Help for stock seats 4 Years, 3 Months ago
That was my first winter project here in Maine this year. I love the look. I used an electric knife $9. 1) I went straight down the back a little to provide a slight back support 2) I dished out cheek indents 3) then I tapered the sides a little where my thighs hit the seat. Remember a little goes a long way and before I cut anything I maped out where I set on the seat, where my legs were both on the bars and boards, did a lot of measuring and grafting on the foam with a felt tip marker and then went at it. Scared the crap out of the wife and had threats of no new seat if it doesn't go well. One issue was on cutting the back support...on the sides when I reinstalled the cover I got a slight wrinkle on one side. I'm waiting until spring and then I'll try to strech and pull it out and re staple that section. all and all I love it. Of course the first long ride will tell. Two feet of snow yesterday so may be a while yet.

Pacific coast Star Sells a Modified Stock Seat and Passenger pillion but asks for yours in echange , so Im guessing they have a higher quality Foam that they install and replace the cover . Very reasonable cost ( unless you live in Canada like me ! ) Perhaps someone in here has one ...
