Depends on how sharp / deep the ding is. You can have someone with the tools try to massage it out from inside for you. You can remove the tank and try to pop it out with air, I have even heard of people filling the tank with water and freezing it. If it is too deep or the metal stretched to much you may be in trouble.

Your best bet is the paintless dent removal. Find someone in your area that does this. They have the tools to get in there and work that dent out without damage to the paint.

I had a couple taken out of my car that way. The only one they couldn't do was from a golf ball and it stretched the metal too far for him to try. It works very well.

I have heard of them using dry ice or something to pop them out. I am for the paint less dent repair idea. I see them all over the place in shopping center parking lots down here in Texas after a hail storm.

I used to repair hail damage with a rose bud torch and dry ice but you always had to paint.... I did the same thing on a triumph bonny 750. A German friend got it out by removing the tank petcock plugging all vents then filling 3/4 with water and putting in alka seltzer.....warning, warning, warning the presure it takes to pop the dent out can cause other issues.

So the dry ice method and the canned Co2 method does the same thing, shrink the metal. Both methods best done when the medal is warm. I bet it would be harder to do on a tank because the medal is much heavier (thicker). Worth a shot though.
