Yes, there is a tension gauge that can be bought from Yamaha. You push up on the belt with the tension Gauge and read the tension on the gauge. I prefer using my hand. It is irrelevant how strong one is. It is all about feel. We are talking about twisting the belt until the belt resists significantly. Yes you can twist the belt beyond this but it takes much more effort. Where the belt resists twisting to the point it wants to stop twisting is where the tension of the belt is. This should be a 45 degree twist. Besides that, I have used those cheap tension gauges before, and I trust my feel more than I do them.
