Eibach 1,000 lb Spring Now Seems Too Stiff 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I have lost 30 lbs but I don't think that made huge difference. Mostly it's that I'm riding solo most of the time this year since my wife hurt her hip.

The stocker spring was way too soft. Now I feel the Eibach is too hard.

Thinkg progressive may be just right. I had dealer mount the Eibach. How hard is it to change out spring? Thinking maybe I'll go progressive, install myself, then sell the Eibach to keep cost down.

Another question - is it dangerous leaving front springs stock with beefier rear spring?

You might want to check where the pre-load is first.

there is, but easiest way is you the 2 nuts that are on the front of the shock - loosen them all the way to they bottom out on the end of the shock - this will give you alot less preload. if its too stiff then you might wanna look into a progressive spring

Simple wrenching job? Can I do this without a lift?

That was easy! My preload was very tight. I backed if off to loosest setting. Now for the best part - test ride!

Much better! That was my problem. Dealer who I had install the Eibach spring set preload way too high. I could feel the difference as soon as I sat on the bike. It is actually lower. Feels much better all around but especially in turns. I grew up riding enduro's so I like to through my but and the rear end into a turn. Now it feels much more natural.

Thanks guys!

Check out pages 3-15 and 3-16 in your Owners Manual.

It depicts the limits on adjustment for the shock assembly.

If you set it too short, the shock will fail.

Also, if you want to buy a 420 Progressive, you may want to consider a Tricky Air shock for a little more.

If you really want to buy a 420 Progressive Shock, I'll sell you mine (almost new) and I'll upgrade to a Tricky Air shock.

By too short - I assume you mean the more preload setting. I just back my preload out to max. Is that a problem?

Go to pages stated above on this site Owner's Manual 1602 CC

It's page 40 in the PDF file. It has pictures of what to do
