I spoke too soon... Although the screw that I was talking about needed to be tightened, that wasn't the whole story. I had the chrome bumper piece that goes around the front of the fender. I got to looking at it, and realized that it was fractured. (Either from one of my early mishaps with dropping the bike, or the previous owner's...) Anyway, I removed it and then went for a test-ride. The only noises are the thump-rumble of the engine and the faint sewing machine sound of the lifters. The Sow is happy again, and so am I.
