I believe it has to do more with physics rather than ease of adjustment. I have had mine on the front side and had no problems adjusting with all types of exhaust.

If you think of how the rear axle torques under acceleration ... you'll see that the axle on the left side gets pulled forward while on the right side it gets pushed back. I figure the engineers thought the axle would be more secure this way.

But what do I know ... I'm a scientist not an engineer.
