After market rear shock absorber 2 Weeks, 5 Days ago
|
|
Does anyone know of any after market rear shock absorbers for the 2000 Roadstar. Call me cheap but $900 Oz sounds a little rich. They look like a sealed unit. I don't suppose they can be repaired?

For $900, you could get air ride.

I agree! Check out Tricky air ride for that $$. Is the actual shock bad? or do you just want something stiffer?

Good luck and have fun.
Why are you changing the rear shock?

Thanks for all the replies. It's a lonely place when you get quoted big bucks for a part that is after all ... just a shock absorber.
I have learned a few things since I posted.
There may be a European version of the shocky for a bike the Europeans call the "Wildstar". That costs aroud $750.00.
But even better, there are two types of shock absorber; an enclosed spring (difficult to recondition) and an open spring (reconditionable for around $220 - $260).
Here is a quote from a Brisbane suspension repairer that I got -

My shock has done 130,000 hard clicks as the bike has been in every state except West Oz and Tazzy with my fat arse and camping gear on board. I can't complain about the service that the Roadstar has given.
Thanks for the replies.

I purchased the 420 Series Progressive shock and like it.
If I were to do it over, I would hit Tricky up for an air ride when he pulls another sale. I was never online when he put one out.
My lower back takes too many hits on these New Jersey streets. The expansion joints get paved over and then bulge up 3-6" If I don't watch out, they beat me up bad.
You're more than halfway there with the 420!

hagon shocks in england make monoshocks and progressive fork springs for roadies.
i sell a lot of their products because they´re good, and their customer service is excellent.
their standard roadie shock runs out at 275 sterling with adjustable preload and damping, and a special build runs out at 325 quid.
their shocks are built to order, so when i´ve ordered they ask for rider weight, if the bike takes a passenger regually, if it´s a bagger, and what kind of riding (cruising, agressive, etc), and they set them up accordingly.
when girling shocks went down the tubes, hagons bought up their tooling and added the gas shocks to their line.
i´d reccommend them without hesitation.
