Two small pieces of alum angle and two pieces of plexi-glass. I cut them to kind of look like two big foot prints. I wanted two see if it would make enough difference before I spent more on an after market set. It made a huge difference, this winter they are going in for redesign most likely metal simular to the HD.

I bolted the HD chromes one on mine. Easy to do, and made a HUGE differance.

Looks like I'll need to get a set. Allready been in the single digits here and
gets mighty cold in the chin and throat area even with a balaclava on. How about
something for the hands ?

Guys,thanks for all the info 7 your advice.

My bike a 2 brand new dunlops on it and i did chk the pressure and it was right on factory spec so i figured it good to go.

It also only has 5k mles on it and font fork.\/bearing/wheel etc seem tight.

I did take a quick look at the rear to front aligmentand it seems ok.

but the bike is squirly at times even on a straight raod at speed cruise speed,just is worse when its windy but lowering th windscreen to lower position helped that a bit.

but i sure hope some the the instability isnt due to that new dunop tire that was just installed?

But the bike had the same unstable feeling up front withe the worn out tire tires too,it just got a little better with the new dunlops but not near as much of an improvement as i was hoping for with the new tires.

Couple more questions after reading reading all your info,where can i get the what looks to be plexygalss lowers that are cut to not interfear with crash bars?

And how does that white pearl colored R* handle with the upper fairing that also provides some hand coverage too and whats approx cost?

Thats what i may of changing too in the future.

Check the welds on the brackets that mount the swingarm to the frame. I have had the welds break on me enough to make the bike feel loose. It`s really nasty when they let go.

Ditto on tire pressure, My rear got down to 20 lbs. and my bike was squirrelly as hell! Pumped them both up to 38 and it's rock solid now! I guess I got too complacent being used to cage tires staying aired-up. Now I check the scoot's tires weekly....

scott, i got my fairing through Premeux, an outfit in Canada http://www.premeux.com/gal_yamaha/yamaha.html. It has an English section but for some reason its not coming up. Good quality, I love it....was about $1200 or so for an inner and outer fiberglass fairing. I had to get it painted to match the bike. this winter, the trunk is going in for a matching paint job. A lot of other guys have other fairings gotten at various places and prices. I took it off for a couple of days and rode with the tall windshield....put it right back on. Just didn't look right without it. It helps a lot in my opinion. My hands still get a little cold when it gets @ 40 or so but for the most part they are ok. I got some handlebar covers (like big "L" shaped mittens I carry to put over the controls if it gets really cold.

btw, if you look over the saddle bag, you can see the hand grip i talked about earlier.

Theres more,i ordered the BUCKS LOWERS so hopefully the buffeting my helemet/head gets will be history.

And lastly,i have had 2 different people tell me that even new dunlop tires made their bikes unstable/squirly and when they switched to Bridgestone tires the instability went away and my bike has 2 brand new dunlops on it with only 400 miles on them.

I am going to try switching to a bridgeston just on the front to see what that does and hopw the dunlop/bridgeston mix doesnt foul it up even more.

But the rear ofthe bike doesnt seem unstable at all and i dont get any sensation it wants to kick out ,is loose,or looses traction at all if i get into it in1st & second gears hard . SAo maybe thedifferent tred design ofthe rear tie is ok and the diff tread design of the front tire is an issue.

And BTW,yes i did chk the tire pressures and they are right on the money per the manual. Think they were supposed to be approx 36psi and maybe the rear even higher in low 40's if bike is loaded with more weight along with being at higher speeds like on the interstate.
