Memphis Shades Batwing 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Being new to the RS Clinic, I could use some help with choosing whether to go with a Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing for my 2005 Midnight RS. It has probably been talked about before but has anyone put one on their bike? Any feedback, or comments would really help me out! For the price I would rather go this route versus buying anothe windshield to replace my scratched one. I bought my bike used and am basically fixing, or replacing about everything on the bike. Any help on this matter would really help me out!

Thanks, Richard

If you want info right away you can do a search. They have been talked about a number of times.

The members that are using the MS fairing seem to like them. Look for fireman922 or MS1700 they both have MS fairings and could give you more info. There are many different batwings to choose from in many price ranges. Some have inner fairings and radio mounts and some don't. So if this is the direction that you are going, look at all of them and choose the one that best suits your needs. I went with the HD. It was more work to install but it was the one I wanted.

The memphis shades fairing runs around 350 dollars once you get mounts. It doesn't have an inner fairing. I think I would go with the reckless fairing without stereo because it has an inner fairing and uses stock windshield mounts, or at least that is the email I recieved from them. They want 399 for their fairing. This is the way I am gonna go when I finally get the money for one.

Thanks for the information! Having ridden Harley's many times, I do love the HD batwing and the radio. I was actually going to buy a HD Road Glide this summmer but things are not looking promising. I was looking for an inexpensive alternative for my RS since I am hanging on to the bike. My stock Silverado windshield is scratched from the previous owner and a batwing of some sort would be a nice change.

Thanks for the information Lorin. I thought I had heard of the majority of brands of batwing fairings but never reckless. I will check them out.

I just put an MS batwing on my 07 this winter. Pretty simple to install with their quick release brackets and you can remove the fairing in just a few seconds for those really nice days. Think it was like $340 for the fairing and brackets. It's one piece, no inner so no radio but very solid and with the 9" windshield it's nice protection for the hand and the head but at 5'9" tall I still look out over the top of it.

I saw it on this website from some nice member who shared what he saw. This is why I love this website.
You can do another search on this website for reckless fairing and get more info.
