Lowers 2 Years ago
|
|
|
Been thinking about and looking at a lot of pictures of lowers and decided what the heck, i'm just going to make mine. Went out and bought 1/8" clear plastic and 11/2" polished aluminum angle. Figured it might take me a couple of weeks to get it done and they have to look good also. I was going to try a few different shapes until i find the one that does the best job. I know someone on here has made their own and thought if they had any imput on this i would appreciate it. Thanks Kroyleahcim

Kroy,
Here's what I did when I made mine. 1/4" plexiglass cut to shape, then curves on the bottom are similar to my windshield. The brackets were cut with the same curve and I used 1/8"x2" flat aluminum polished up. Let me know if you need better pics of brackets shapes etc. I have a lot better hi-res pics than I could post on here.

Make the out of stiff cardboard first so you can test different shapes. Cheaper and easier to work with than plexiglass.

Make sure that you use Lexan. Plexi-Glass shatters!
Check out this web site for hints on materials and design.

Yeah, what I didn't show was all the prep to get to the stage of the pics I posted. I've found that soda boxes make awesome templates. I've got pics of the mak ups if you'd like to see them.

THANKS, I figured i would get started this week. The plastic sheet is not plexi-glass because i too heard that it shatters, have plenty of cardboard for the templates. I did download pics of the Bucks lowers last week. I think i have enough info to get started and thanks for the pics that you did post Itnkrman. By the way i'll probally make two sets because we traded the wife's star 250 for a new 09 red star 650 that looks just like mine with bags and backrest, etc. She loves it. Thanks again. Kroyleahcim
