i removed my star tank badge by heating it up with my blow dryer, then used a fishing line to separate the badge from the tank putting most of the cutting pressure toward the badge/away from the tank. it came off easier than i thought it would. i removed the adhesive residue with my blowdryer and finger nails. the tank is now smoother than a baby's butt.

I just had my tank painted and watched as the guy took my enblems off... He had very light small gauge steel guitar string about 2 feet long wrapped around to wooden handles. He put some light pressure against the tank and pulled hard with slow sawing motion... emblems game off in less than 5 seconds each with barely and residue left on the tank... very impressive!
I'm now debating whether or not to put them back on... Kinda like the look of just the tank.. had flames painted on....

i used fishing line to saw through the adhesive,then spray on brake cleaner to remove the left over sticky stuff,didnt bother my paint and cleaned it up good to apply my decals

A hair dryer and my figures. They just popped right off after heating. I guess I'm impatient 
I do like the fishing line/dental floss idea though. |

15lb test fish line, glue be gone, fingers and a towel did the job for me.

I don't know why people would want to get rid of them. My bike doesn't have them and I've been looking for a set.
