Pumpless....hmmm? Pics? 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
|
|
Anyone have pics of what your bike looks like after removing the fuel pump? I'm thinking of trying to do it this weekend and am curious.
Btw, any links to easy directions? Or is it too simple for directions?
And, I might lower the bike too doing the flip. However, after the flip does it bottom out? Thats about the only thing worrying me right now cuz there are some wicked bumps on the highways around here.
Thanks!

That article still refers to the 2.5 needle and seat. I think the Grizzly needle and seat (3.0) would be a better choice since that article was written. Everyhting else is good to go though.
I think the correct part number for the Grizzly Valve is 2C6-14190-30-00

As for the lowering, yes it will scrape, and bottom out, especially on the big pot holes and speed bumps.

It's easy, but there are a couple of things I'd recommend.
When you route the fuel line and filter, try to keep the filter somewhat verticle. (Top in, bottom out)
That will help to prevent air from getting trapped in the filter, breaking the siphon and stalling the bike when the fuel gets low in the tank.
Some have vented the gas cap (I did), others have removed the roll over valve from the tank vent line. Do at least one.
I love it and as a plus, I haven't had any carb puking since.
I hear the Yamaha grizzley valve is cheaper than the suzuki and lets even more fuel in.
Have fun and enjoy the look of those twins being exposed to the world.

This pic isn't really pumpless. It precedes that mod by a year or two. But its the right look:

The small breather is for the crankcase vent. Since this pic was taken, I have chopped the bottom off the pump bracket, and moved the enricher right up under the breather.
I used the 2.5, and haven't had any starvation issues from it. The stock needle and seat is a 2.0. Try and keep the filter vertically oriented as mentioned. I used some of the preformed fuel line from the pump set up to make the 90 degree turn, and I used the original spring protector on all the rubber line.
As a bonus, you'll get more air circulation.
